Under a dome of year-round blue sky, the five-star Villa Allamanda-Nour commands a hill offering sweeping views of the ocean at Mui Ne, a fishing village in Phan Thiet, a coastal city in Binh Thuan province.
Named for the vibrant yellow trumpet flowers grown in the area, Ms Loan designed, built and decorated the luxurious complex; its design an artful balance between panache and subtley.
A 12th-century Champa art bas-relief at the entrance sets the tone. The elegantly furnished open living and sitting areas are bedecked with Asian arts and antiques including “Bois Dores” Vietnamese Buddhist sculptures, a Chinese Ming Dynasty antique Huang Hua Li daybed, a rare 12th -15th century Vietnamese ceramic collection and bronze Dong Son drums dated from the 2nd century AD.
Ms Loan has harmoniously blended the villa’s modern designer furniture with traditional lacquer paintings, including a tremendous lacquer screen by Hanoian artist Dang Thu Huong, the doyenne of lacquer arts in Vietnam and the only artist to use authentic natural lacquer color extracted from the lacquer tree planted in Phu Tho in Vietnam’s north.
With a location that is both secluded and yet in the midst of it all, the villa is minutes from the beach, from water sport facilities, from restaurants and shops lining the 12-kilometer stretch of Mui Ne. Sea Links, a world-class18-hole golf course, is right next door. Marvel at the nearby Po Shanu Cham towers, once an important religious pilgrimage temple of the powerful Champa kingdom, situated on a hill affording impressive views of the town.
After a day jam-packed with kitesurfing, sailing, fishing and biking, retire to the villa’s plush infinity pool, which can be converted into an outdoor spa area where guests can lap up a local herb massage to the soothing sound of the waves crashing on the shore.
Unwind over a cool beverage and a game of pool before dinner at the villa’s bar, or indulge in wine degustation inside the villa’s wine cellar or on the sprawling terrace overlooking the blooming garden and ocean.
Villa Allamanda-Nour sleeps up to 8+ guests in 4 luxury double bedrooms, each with balconies affording uninterrupted ocean views, and features separate quarters for nannies and the butler.
