Colonial & Traditional Vietnamese architecture

A journey to remember

Architectural Digest featured Ms Loan’s stunning residence on its January 1998 cover while numerous coffee table books have lauded the achievement. To wit, in Vietnam Style and Indochine Style, Barbara Walker wrote: “It is clear upon visiting the colonial villa that the accolades showered on Ms Loan are understated – the home which she shares with her family is an extraordinary work of art”. Meanwhile, The International Herald Tribune, part of The New York Times Company, also commended her efforts rescuing the ancestral hall-house from destruction: “For guests, it is like dining in a museum. For Foster, it is a house that found a home”.

An interior decorator of some renown, Ms Loan has achieved a singular ambiance inside with a vast antique and art collection that might otherwise be housed in a museum, including her prized bronze drums dating from the 2nd century AD and a collection of fine 15th century Vietnamese blue and white ceramics.
